LIFT began in 2014 as a small monthly meet up, and has now expanded to an online community of over 5,000 women in film and tv.
LIFT encompasses peer support, networking, education and an online community, holding several networking events and seminars per year.
Who we are
LIFT is made up of anyone who identifies as female from all areas of our industry. LIFT founders, admin and volunteers donate their time to make the film industry a better place for women.
LIFT includes experienced key creatives across all facets of production, post production, development, finance, sales, distribution and marketing and those who are new to the industry. Members of the community support each other by posting jobs, sharing information, seeking and receiving advice and collaborating on projects. Our attitude is – we are all in this together.
Co-founders
Alexandra Blue
Alexandra founded LIFT with Racheal in 2014. What began as an opportunity to socialise and connect with women inside their circle soon became something much bigger – an opportunity to support other women to succeed in a notoriously difficult industry. Alexandra is passionate about collaboration, connecting others and supporting people to achieve. She is a big believer in working to remove barriers to entry in the film industry, and making it accessible to people from any background.
Outside of LIFT, Alexandra is an award-winning producer and runs independent production company Bluebird Productions. Her short films have been Oscar-long listed, Australian Academy Award nominated, and received acclaim at festivals including BFI London, Clermont-Ferrand, Flickerfest and Palm Springs. She was recently selected as one of 12 producers for BFI Insight. Alexandra's feature film and television slate includes projects in development with Film 4, BFI and Screen Australia.
Racheal Rauch
When Racheal talks about LIFTs origins, she always begins with how it all started at a 2014 ladies dinner in Cannes - where many good stories start! Racheal and Alexandra never set out to create a community, but what began as a small group of friends soon grew, due to the demand for a network and peer-to-peer support.
Since acquiring a First-Class Honours degree in screen studies in 2004, Racheal has pursued her love of film and television, establishing herself as a distinguished media practitioner with extensive industry experience in London and Sydney.
Over the course of her career, Racheal has worked across multiple disciplines including development, production, commissioning, programming, film acquisition and sales for companies such as Bankside Films, Renegade Pictures, Studio Lambert, Channel Four, the Seven Network, Wooden Horse and Flying Bark.
Racheal is currently freelancing from her base in Sydney.
